Koh Lipe– a South Thailand paradise

There are actually many famous beaches in South Thailand.  Among the most popular are the beaches in Phuket, Phi-phi  and Raya islands.  I have yet to explore those , but I was able to go to Koh Lipe, one of the beaches in the South which is not that touristy yet… but probably equally beautiful.

Since we come from Bangkok, we boarded the bus to Hat Yai city.  The trip would take 12 hours.  If you go on a plane, there are cheap flights that you could avail with Air Asia.  So from Hat Yai, we rode on a van going to Pakabara, the port where we  would take a speed boat ride to Koh Lipe.

Once you get to Koh Lipe, you could choose to stay at Sunset beach or in Pattaya beach.  In our case we chose Pattaya beach– and there you would find many resorts to choose from.  We stayed at Mountain Resort.

The view from Mountain Resort– beautiful, eh?

We went around and explored the place/ searched for dinner!

Hmm.. where to?

Pretty sure our two-day getaway was over before we knew it… so it was time to go.  All packed up and ready to board that speedboat again– and off to reality I went!

For those who want to explore this seemingly hidden paradise, here’s what it will cost you:

Van from Hat Yai to Pakabara – 100 THB/ 3.50 USD

Speedboat from Pakabara to Koh Lipe- 650 THB (25 USD)

Room cost per night- 2,500 THB (85 USD) inclusive of buffet breakfast

Mountaintop experience

Earlier this year me and two of my closest friends went to Koh Lipe, a beach destination in South Thailand for a “mommy holiday”. It was such a great time… you know, when you have been a stay-at-home mom for sometime and you wake up one morning not having to worry what to cook for breakfast?  Not to mention that the beach was just beautiful.  I wish to go back there someday with the family.

Beautiful Koh Lipe!

For next year, we are actually thinking of going to the Cameron Highlands in Malaysia. Hopefully that would be pushed through so I could also set my foot on that beautiful country.  Got this photo online  of Cameron Highlands.  So 2012 would be a mountaintop experience for us!  I can’t wait.

Since we would be quite far from the bustling city, I am not sure if we would have access to the internet or would be able to watch movies on cable TV. We were not able to enjoy both when we were in Koh Lipe, too– unless they have omnidirectional antennas.

So see you on the mountaintop next year, ladies!  :)
