One of my Thai friends asked me about Dedon Island and I just gave him a blank stare. I have not heard of an island by that name in the Philippines! He said he googled about the beautiful beaches in our country and that’s when he came across Dedon.
I got curious myself, so I googled it and I was surprised with the photos I saw! Of course it is no secret that Siargao, Surigao del Norte, the country’s surfing capital is definitely worth checking out so I won’t be surprised if there are other undiscovered or unadvertised beaches in that part of the country.
So if you are like me who’s never heard of this undiscovered paradise, here are a few photos:
Twenty years ago, French businessman Nicolas Rambeau bought this beach resort (originally Pansukian Beach Resort). He built a vacation cottage for himself and eventually built some more to invite his friends over.
While I mentioned that this beach resort is yet undiscovered and not so well-advertised, some elite Filipino families such as the Zobels and Lopezes have already been this resort’s visitors.
Dedon Resort was designed by French architect Daniel Pouzet, but some many well-known Filipino artizans have helped decorate and furnish the resort. Dedon showcases world-class Filipino craftsmanship, and is something that we can proudly show tourists who visit this undiscovered paradise.
